The Quiet Heroes at the End of a Dog’s Life
We recently said goodbye to our dog Baker — a gentle soul with a kind smile, and a member of our family in every way that matters. Walking into that final appointment was one of the hardest things we’ve ever done. Yet in the middle of our worst moment, something unexpected happened: we were met with an overwhelming amount of love.
Origin Story: Dakota herself
For as long as I can remember, dogs have been the quiet rhythm of my life—steady companions, patient teachers, and joyful chaos all rolled into one. But today, my world is shaped most by a two‑year‑old border collie named Dakota. She’s the heartbeat of our home, adored by everyone, and lovingly referred to by my son as “the wee lass.”
Origin Story: Chasing Turkeys
It all started on what was supposed to be a completely ordinary evening walk.
My dog spotted a flock of neighborhood turkeys and, as dogs naturally do, took off after them in a burst of pure excitement. It seemed like a classic moment of wild canine joy—a quick sprint, a few ruffled feathers, and then back to our peaceful stroll.
Or so I thought.
Entering MVP Phase
We’re excited to move beyond the prototype phase and launch an early beta of the Dakota platform, expanding our user testing and gathering feedback from a broader community of dog owners. The response to our prototype have been incredibly encouraging and energizing. The feedback we’ve received is helping validate our vision while also shaping the next generation of Dakota as we continue to build, test, and improve the platform.
